The Film Critics Award was given out the fiftieth time in Budapest. The prestigious award was founded a half a century ago by the film and TV critique department of MÚOSZ. The creators of the winning entries of works from the previous year normally receive the award at the beginning of the following year. Based on the decision by the jury of experts in 2001 the 100 part Hungarian Folktales series won in the best animated films category.
The Hungarian Folktales animated series has been completed after 35 years. The new parts were created as a coproduction among Kecskemétfilm, MTV and Docler Video Productions. The newest episodes were shown during the winter breaks from Dec. 23, in the Hungarian Television networks. The "Best Animated Film" Critics Award was received in person by the father of its brainchild and director of Kecskemét Films, Ferenc Mikulás.
